A Proud History of Youlgrave Lodge Cricket Club
Youlgrave Lodge Cricket Club was founded in 1984, thanks to the vision of Dave Tarlton. Working in the Accounts Section of the Pensions Centre at Pioneer House in Chesterfield, Dave nurtured the idea with the help of colleagues Chris Jennings and Steve Yates. The concept gained momentum with the involvement of John Shackleton, Ken Wilde, Graham Bond, and Jon Eaton, forming the nucleus of the team.
In the inaugural season of 1984, the club played seven friendly matches, all away games, using borrowed cricket equipment from AGD CC.
Originally named BT Pensions CC, the club began as a midweek team playing friendly matches before joining the Chesterfield and District Midweek Works League in 1986. Over the years, the club moved across various grounds:
-
1986: Dark Lane, North Wingfield
-
1987: Langer Lane
-
1992: Highfield Park
-
1996: Duckmanton Lodge
-
2007: Relocation to Youlgrave
Our rich history reflects the hard work, passion, and commitment of all who have contributed to the club’s growth. Today, we continue to build on that legacy as we promote cricket and community spirit in the Derbyshire Peak District.
